I'm no expert here, but I believe you'll probably want to encode the video from the DVD first (turning it into an MP4, an MKV, or the like). If you're sharing the folder with your television, it's just seeing the data directories, and has no clue what to do with the VOB files, etc.. My suggestion wo...

You need a startup script. You can find one here that can be used to run it automatically. You'll just want to use something like rcconf to enable it once you have placed it in /etc/init.d.

This is one that I modified slightly (it was in the original PS3 Media Server setup I believe) to work with UMS. It seems to do fine - I modified it slightly to rotate log files automatically during a restart (just so that I had access to them later if needed). Either way, this works on Debian (Sque...
