Re: hard-coded subtitles not rendering

OK I see what you mean about remote and the tv renderer, not possible. Sorry, I must've glossed over the link you gave to the Dish config thread. This stuff is mostly over my head, but I'll likely return to it after my more pressing problems are better. Thanks again!

Re: hard-coded subtitles not rendering

Checking the new Dish Hopper config, no luck. First, sitting at my pc, everything worked on the Web interface as usual, i.e. no subtitles. Then, on the TV, I could get as far as looking at Vids/TVshows and then it stalled, wouldn't bring up anything. I'm almost done with my efforts on this for now, ...

Re: hard-coded subtitles not rendering

OK thanks, done. I can't check it until the next time I can control that TV, likely tomorrow.

Re: hard-coded subtitles not rendering

Looking at UMS.conf I have two, one in the UMS program files folder and one in the ProgramData\UMS folder. My usual tactic with replacing a conf or ini file with a newly downloaded one is to just rename the old one with an OLD suffix and rename the new one, in this case UMS Dish-Hopper.conf to the e...

Re: hard-coded subtitles not rendering

Thanks Nadahar. I didn't know about that thread, whatever it is. But now I've downloaded that file and will have a look and probably load it up tomorrow.

Re: hard-coded subtitles not rendering

I recommend starting out by downloading the file from the other thread.
Still wanting to know what file. Thanks for the clarity on the transcoded files.

Re: hard-coded subtitles not rendering

Also,
UMS will transcode videos
- I find the transcoding very confusing, I mean the creation process is somewhat automatic, but then I see a Trancoded folder full of multiple choices with no clue to which to choose.

Re: hard-coded subtitles not rendering

Thanks Nadahar! At the moment this just makes me dizzy. I may get up to it later. I can tell you: I do have a home network supporting a total of 3 PCs and 3 Android phones. I don't ever consciously use WMP for anything. I have 3 DISH units, the main mother DVR and 2 offspring. For this I only care a...

Re: hard-coded subtitles not rendering

OK, thanks. The video in question/example happens to be MKV. I changed the main settings to Force for .mkv - , then, still no subs on the TV or the Web interface. What should I be doing with my Settings? I do know how to edit an INI file.
