Re: real basic question about playlists

Thank you, csei4 - I wasn't sure if you shared only the playlists folder without having the Share iTunes item checked, but it looks like you do not have the Advanced Settings on so it probably is not shared.

Re: [Testers Required] UMS Running on Java 7

I'm not sure what to do about this one. I haven't seen anyone else report this issue so i can not figure out a magic fix. One thing, take your -Xss back to 2048k as that is the maximum thread size, this is what we have figured out in testing is the best size. If you need to increase it, do it in 12...

Re: [Testers Required] UMS Running on Java 7

Also post a couple of logs after you've tested as i'd like to take a look further into it. UMS (listed as PMS in the Activity Monitor) crashed several times today while I was trying to play various media types - including mp4 & mkv videos I had played previously (I can tell because there's a RE...

Re: real basic question about playlists

(Macbook Air - UMS - Onkyo Networkreceiver) UMS can`t read the usual itunes playlist format (.itl or .xml). So the desired playlists have to be exported into .m3u and placed in a new created folder eg: itunes playlists and this folder has to be placed in the folder that was shared/enabled in the UM...

Re: [Testers Required] UMS Running on Java 7

did you check the right profile settings for the renderer? I had to modify the standard one for my wdtv live. did you check the latest version of java? I had issues with java <1.7.45 The MacMini has the current Java - 7.51. Looking into the profile settings was my next step, cyberbooster. I saw wha...

Re: [Testers Required] UMS Running on Java 7

Also post a couple of logs after you've tested as i'd like to take a look further into it. Thanks for your reply Optimus_prime. The log in general doesn't look much different than the piece I posted. Here's a redacted sample starting at the latest startup of UMS: 03-30 15:41:32 Starting Universal M...

Re: [Testers Required] UMS Running on Java 7

I'm new to UMS. I had tried Plex and PMS several years ago and they both quickly ran out of memory and it was hit or miss if the PS3 saw them or played anything. I tried the standard UMS on our MacMini and it also ran out of memory serving up any but the smallest playlist. Since the Mini is running ...

Re: real basic question about playlists

Hmmm…I thought the UMS 3.5.0 had resolved the playlist question among other problems - like our PS3 seeing UMS but only displaying "there are no titles". I deleted the whole ~/Library/Application Support/UMS folder (not the first time I'd tried that), then launched the new 3.5.0 version an...

real basic question about playlists

UMS looks to be exactly what we were looking for to let us play on our AV center the digitized videos and central iTunes music library stored on our MacMini in another room. But there is what I would think is a very basic question that I have not seen addressed in the FAQ or forum discussions: iTune...
