Re: UMS Does Not See My iMac's Second Drive

Hi ferrarif1355! It's not really a workaround, per se, but not exactly intuitive by Mac standards either. The way you get to other drives when you click to add a folder on the Navigation tab is to select your main drive in the top drop-down menu (typically "Macintosh HD"). Then scroll down...

Re: *.MKV Problem with FFmpeg 2.2.2 (needed for Audacity 2.0

I was having mkv issues and weird unnecessary transcoding with mp4 files on my system after changing back and forth between UMS versions while troubleshooting another problem about a week ago. What fixed it for me was to quit UMS and delete the UMS folder found in /Users/<yourname>/Library/Applicati...

Re: Very slow startup

Outstanding! Glad you found the fix. I'll add it to my "just in case" file. :D
Perhaps as Yosemite matures and the supporting techs (Java, ffmpeg, etc.) catch up we'll have fewer workarounds.

Re: Very slow startup

I don't know if this is related but check out this thread: http://www.universalmediaserver.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=2340 It has to do with ffmpeg running the cpu at 100% at startup. I bring this up because you mentioned the three minute delay. When I was monitoring my UMS startup it took a...

Re: Help us add support for your renderer

Hi Whistler, thanks a lot for the logs and image! I've added the improved support to our code now :) I would build you a version to test it but I can't build for OS X, maybe Optimus will build one Thank you, SubJunk! If Optimus builds one I'd be happy to try it out. If not, just knowing that it wil...

Re: Help us add support for your renderer

This is for the Samsung BD-F5900 bluray player. I've included my log files and also included, in the ZIP, a PNG of the unit itself using the image format dictated by the entry in Github. (273x128 with 10px clearance on right and left). I use a slightly modified version of the Samsung TV E series ren...

Re: FFMPEG process out of control, uses all ram.

Could you try with versions 4.0.0 and 4.0.1 too? They have different FFmpeg versions so that might help us see whether that's the issue Same thing on both 4.0.0 and 4.0.1. Also I just noticed, across all the versions I've tested, that upon reboot & UMS restart the "mplayer" process ru...

Re: FFMPEG process out of control, uses all ram.

Does it happen if you use the Java 7 version of 4.2.0 too? Yes it does. I run the UMS Java 8 on my 2009 mac mini which only has Java 8 installed so I tried UMS Java 7 on my 2012 MBPro which only has Java 7 installed. Both systems are running Yosemite. Since it was the first run of UMS on my MBPro I...

Re: FFMPEG process out of control, uses all ram.

Just chiming in with the same ffmpeg issue so you know it's not an isolated issue. Fortunately my system did not stop responding while ffmpeg was eating all my cpu cycles and RAM. My system was sluggish but still responded. Ffmpeg kept running for approximately 3.5 minutes and used up to 1.5 gigs of...
