Hello, In my opinion, I find the default icons of UMS ugly and old. So, I redesigned and changed to modern icons. May be some of you want to do the same? Ubuntu 18.04, with UMS v7.x not OK, failed to start = error WindowsLookAndFeel reported in post #1. Easy to reproduce that issue with virtual machine. Same issue with 7.1 ; 7.2 ; 7.3 ; 7.4 ; 7.5 running Ubuntu 18.04 with openjdk-8-jre or openjdk-8-jdk installed If we use sudo update-alternatives --c...

I used UMS since many years (with PMS), I trust it about privacy. Sorry if I had hurt you. I don't want absolutely use UMS in Firejail, just by curious in fact. I agree with your arguments.

I don't know why you consider UMS "untrusted". ... Since UMS shouldn't be exposed to the Internet either (it's a LAN service), I think the potential for harm is quite limited. Looking quickly in the code, "GTK look and feel" is what's applied for Linux by default. If it fails, it's switched to something called MetalLookAndFeel, which is pretty terrible Check your log for "Error loading GTK look and feel" or post debug files like explained in red above. Ubuntu 16 UMS 6.5 Java 1.7 There is little problem with UMS user interface when I open UMS. User interface is ugly with an old style theme (as windows 95).
