Yeah you can use VLC with some setting changes to play the files.

On a side note, how would I set up 2 pcs on the same wifi to share the folders? It's been years since I've been taught how to do this properly. Can someone explain how?

No the PS3 picture is the picture but it's still DirecTV. I made it where it will show whatever renderer it picks up as a PS3 picture bc that's the setting I had when it was working so I didn't bother to change it to make it show what is actually there.
