Re: Version 3.0.0 Alpha 1 is released

Once again thanks for this great software and the new features. I really enjoy it for several hours a week! I have a question about the new feature "Added VLC video transcoding". I have VLC 2.0.5 on my machine and, according to the logs, VLC is recognized by UMS. However, it is disabled on...

Re: Version 2.5.0 is released

Hi Subjunk, Thanks again for this great release and your unremitting work. I really aprreciate what you're doing! I was glad to see you improved the aspect ratio handling on Panasonic and Sony TVs. In this context, i would like to bring this thread to your attention: http://www.universalmediaserver....

Re: Runing UMS as a service on Win 64-bit with Java 64-bit

I agree with Optimus_Prime to focus more on features than to focus on making it all 64 bit. This is why i didn't add this on the list of requested features in the first place. I only opened this thread to share my findings with other people who prefer to use only java 64 bit and yet want to run UMS ...

Re: Runing UMS as a service on Win 64-bit with Java 64-bit

Completely agree.

Nevertheless, i prefer the 64-bit wrapper because it allows me to:
1) Use one and only one JRE on my machine.
2) Allocate a bigger heap (and hence transcode buffer) for UMS.

I believe it all depends on personal taste. Nothing more, nothing less.

Regards,
Impee.

Runing UMS as a service on Win 64-bit with Java 64-bit

UMS comes with the 32-bit Java Service Wrapper from Tanuki. This wrapper can't be used on Win 64-bit with Java 64-bit. Unfortunately, Tanuki Software does not distribute a free build of JSW for 64 bit windows. However, Tanuki's community source package is GPL v2. There is absolutely nothing preventi...

Re: Sony Bravia EX715/716

Hi OlliL, I'm just writing this reply to say "thank you" for your great and laborious work. I have an EX711 and was using the "-vf softskip,expand=:::::16/9,dsize=4/3" option for quite a time. All things went well until i began to play mkv instead of avi. I also started changing ...

Re: Niggling Bugs

Hi, I had the memory issue too (see http://www.universalmediaserver.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=536&p=4085#p2720). This problem disappeared for me as soon as i start using UMS 2.4.1. At the same time, i upgraded to Java 1.7 (64-bit) and removed all other JRE's. Maybe this is related as wel...

Re: Increased java heap size not used?

Hi,

I want to come back on the original problem (memory override during install not taken into account - see top message).
This problem seems to be solved as from UMS 2.4.1 and above. No need anymore to use (change and) use the ums.bat file.

Thanks.

Issue with True Motion

Hi, I tried to use True Motion with and without subtitles. I got a black screen in both cases and the debug log instructs me to contact the author (of UMS, i guess?). I attached the debug files. Additional question: Sony Bravia EX711 has Motion Flow, which is, i believe, the same as True Motion. Is ...

Optimal values for keyint, vqscale and vqmin

Hi, I'm looking for the optimal values for keyint, vqscale and vqmin. Which one is better: 5-1-2 (excellent quality) or 5-1-1 (lossless)? Would it be a good idea to set keyint < 5 (eg keyint = 1)? What are the best values to use when cpu or bandwidth are no limiting factors? And last but not least: ...
