I tried adding mencoder and ffmeg from ppa, but no change, still very noisy ;)

I don't mind using vlc as a transcoder...so could you just check on the vlc dbg file and see why my RAM usage got so high, if ther's any trick to keep it low?

nice to see such a dynamic project. I got some issues, though. Since 2.5 got this message error (ubuntu 12.04 64x)....never had any befor...maybe it could help debugging...this happens when I lounch ums from UMS.sh: Exception in thread "main" java.lang.UnsupportedClassVersionError: net/pms...
