Re: UMS not visible from Windows 7 VLC Media Player

That is EXACTLY what was happening. I was starting VLC not in the playlist view and so there was no way to see the UMS server or Universal Plug n Play Local Network. I actually just started to figure it out when I got your reply. I have a suspicion that my main problem is that all of the players out...

Re: UMS not visible from Windows 7 VLC Media Player

@Sami32 My apologies for not being more clear about the issues I am having. I am completely impressed by anyone that communicates in languages other than their native language. I don't know what the behavior is supposed to look like when using UMS from a Windows machine. On my Android Pixel using VL...

Re: UMS not visible from Windows 7 VLC Media Player

@Sami32 It occurs to me that now I am in the realm of unsupported software, I won't be able to use this as a solution for my client. Are there other players (primarily for audio/FLAC) that do have a functional implementation for Windows 7 or Windows 10? As I mentioned I have been using VLC on Androi...

Re: UMS not visible from Windows 7 VLC Media Player

@Sami32 My apologies for my late reply, I didn't get any notification that there were responses to my post. I uninstalled my VLC install on the Windows 7 machine. I am not completely sure the best way to go about cleaning the registry other than manual searching for the string VLC. I am not finding ...

UMS not visible from Windows 7 VLC Media Player

I am trying to setup a library of FLAC files to play from various devices on my home network. I am trying to playback files at the original quality without transcoding to a lossy format. I have been testing playback on Android (Google Pixel Android 7.1.1) and on a Windows 7 Home Edition which is my ...

Re: Roku 3, Oppo BDP-83, UMS 6.6.0 transcoding - maybe a user error?

Thank you! I will do some more work testing. I don't think that server was transcoding the FLAC files for the Oppo. I will do a conversion from FLAC back to WAV and AIFF and see what happens with that.

Best,
Hendrik

Roku 3, Oppo BDP-83, UMS 6.6.0 transcoding - maybe a user error?

I just recently set up UMS 6.6.0 on a Windows 10 box. I am trying to find an audio streaming server that will play FLAC files natively without transcoding. I had been using PLEX but discovered that the FLAC files were being transcoded to MP3. I have been comparing the playback on the Oppo BDP-83 (pr...
