Re: Transcoding with FFmpeg VS MEncoder?

If you're going to be using subtitles I'd say stick with Mencoder. It saves you the trouble of having to use external subs. Just take the time to play with the Transcoding Settings tab > Common Transcode Settings > Audio/subtitles language priority and set it up how you like it. For example I have m...

Re: Youtube feeds no longer working.

@r9

Are you using the latest version of youtube-dl? They've been updating it a lot lately. All my feeds in web.conf for Youtube still work just fine. As well as in Jumpy and Channels.

Re: Java upgrade

Nice. Can't wait to check out the latest build when it goes final. Glad to see you're going to use Java 7 from now on as well.

Yeah that looks more-or-less accurate although in UMS it can be done easier. Maybe I'll write a guide for it at some stage but for now use that one
What's different for writing new renderers between the two?

Re: UMS can't detect PS3

Windows 7 Firewall Control is set to "Enable All". P.S. My network configuration is: [PS3] <--LAN cable--> [Notebook WinXP]<--Wi-Fi--> [wifi Router] <--LAN cable-->[PC Win7] Notebook is acting as a bridge, merging together its LAN and Wifi network adapters and thus making PS3 appear in Wi-Fi networ...

That option has been removed from the v2.5.0 GUI. I'm not sure if they're getting rid of it or it's just gone for now because it's still in beta.

Re: problems with audio and ffmpeg

* Many things seem to be transcoded that don't need to be. In order to get my PS3 to play back my AAC encoded music files, which have the extension .m4a, I have to enter m4a into the "skip transcode for the following extensions" box. Sorry if this is a stupid question, but surely UMS examines the f...

Re: Sony Bravia - Issues & Problems: 2.2.0 vs 2.4.2

I don't know, can you link to the guide? This guide. The "Use tsmuxer" option is gone but it still seems to work that way. Is it now always "on" by default? Yeah, I was curious about this as well. I figured it might be missing because it's still in beta and they're still doing work on the newer GUI.

Re: Sony Bravia - Issues & Problems: 2.2.0 vs 2.4.2

Actually it looks like this config needs some love. I'll put a new one together for you Just out of curiosity...is the guide on how to make your own renderer (on the PS3 Media Server forums) still relevant? I was thinking of doing a custom one for the Galaxy S3 to see if i could get it working bett...
