I'm pretty sure there's a problem with Channels. I've been having issues with it too. See the Channels thread for details. You should try Jumpy. It's working very well as of late.

I don't know how much of a demand there would be for it. It's more of a "special interest" project (and by that I mean for people who like to tinker with beta builds).
