Re: UMS not being detected anymore

Sounds like a firewall issue. Make sure the required ports are enabled. You don't need to set any application rules. viewtopic.php?f=4&t=8461

Re: UMS doesn't auto-start

Might be a conflict. Try starting it as a scheduled task with a delay - see control panel --> administration tools -> task scheduler -> create new. Set the delay (30 secs?) In the triggers tab. Alternatively try running it as a service but make sure you have the necessary firewall ports set - see ht...

UMS Windows Firewall ports

I have been trying for sometime to get UMS t o operate as a service on Windows Server 2012 Essentials R2. Given this is a headless device then UMS will start with the system boot and not require a user logon. Thanks to https://github.com/UniversalMediaServer/UniversalMediaServer/issues/686 I have fi...

Re: CPU Selection guide for transcoding

On previous servers running UMS I had 4 core Q6600 and Q8400 both of which ran fine. More recently I have built replacement servers using Skylake g4400 and g4500, both dual core, and which also work fine for ums 1080p

Re: Directory scan wrap around

I was referring to the PS3. I don't really understand the limitations of the DLNA protocol but surely you get an 'error' returned when the PS3 gets to the end of a list and then use that to trigger a jump to the beginning?

Directory scan wrap around

When scrolling through the files on a directory would it be possible to:
1. if at the top and you 'step' up then wrap around to the bottom
2. if at the bottom and you 'step' down then wrap around to the top
3. the use of I<< and >>I keys to skip to the top / bottom respectively

UMS folder scan issues

I have 2 issues with the processing of the UMS folders 1. when you first load UMS it defaults to 'all drives'. If you then start adding new directories and process a rescan it still tries to include 'all drives'. Having added the required media directories (which replace the default 'all drives') yo...

Re: On while pc turned off

What would the ps3 connect to in order to access the media data if the PC was turned off? You could install UMS as a service to be loaded 'at startup' with the PC network NIC being set to ''Allow this device to wake the computer'. Ideally the PS3 should then trigger the PC startup. Alternatively use...

Transcoder success rates

I just wondered if this is the experience of others and to what extent it is worth raising trouble tickets? From a high level perspective 99% of my videos and music play using Mencoder, 90% with FFmpeg, 70% with tsMuxer and 50% with AviSynth/FFmpeg. I find one of the main complications is audio and ...
