hi there is a simple solution to your problem get the italian subtitle to the movie you want to watch then go to the transcoding options before you watch and select one them that allows you to play the mkv movie file with the italian subtitles i think its much easier than mess up with configurations...

hi go to the transcoding options and select audio adjustment unmark the ac3 option and mark the dts one this should do the trick if you have playback problems go back to ac3 by default i have a hometheater so i Always use the dts options.
