UMS.exe is just a launcher. After launch, you'll see a java instance (javaw.exe) running in your system.

No changes whatsoever to the original file, transcoding/remuxing occurs on the fly.

Are you all sharing the same network? If yes, you may try to control UMS via https://github.com/UniversalMediaServer ... d-Security , but that should be the less of your worries (they may also have the ability to pry into your machine files as well... and viceversa)

Try to follow the FAQ http://www.universalmediaserver.com/faq ... erSupport1 and see if you can create the profile by yourself. Also pointing to online manual where your device's media support is listed also helps a lot.
