UMS means Universal Media Server.
Media means multimedia like Audio, Video, Pictures.
So in your case EPUB books are filtered out as unsupported by Media Server.
Not sure if adding EPUB extension to "streaming extension = " will override this filtering but you can test it.

Re: Transcoding issues
In most cases revoked named pipes are due to Antivirus/Firewall or security policy set (e.g. on Windows).
So as Nadahar mentioned, good start is to try disable antivirus/firewall and test it again.

Re: Stuttering playback on PS3
@Nadahar: As path says, this special build is used for "dvrms" files. So if UMS detects such files, special build is used as general one didn't work on them. Maybe time changed and latest general builds supports "dvrms" files natively without problems. Then it will be useless to ...

Re: Panasonic TH-50CS610A TV *cannot play file error*
Why to use external programs and store duplicate files on HDD when UMS does it directly in memory?
If "Supported = " lines are correctly set in Renderer.conf, UMS will play MP4/AVI/etc. directly or convert them on-the-fly if renderer doesn't support it.

Re: Is it possible to do these things using UMS?
DLNA/UpNP is generally visible to local subnet only as router all these communication doesn't pass outside. I don't know about existing router which supports redirecting it outside so only option is using http/https. UMS supports securable access to UMS from internet. You should search forum for mor...

It is quite unusual that your AVI files will include TS stream. tsMuxeR is used only for files with TS stream as MKV etc. and not for AVI as DivX/XviD etc.
If you tried to play file via TRANSCODE folder and manually clicked on this engine, it is expected it will fail completely.

Re: Disabling subtitle enconding
Writing on mobile with autocorection enabled is a horror. I reformulated the sentence: If external subs are supported, depending on subs preference only first match found from all subs are sent to the renderer. So there is no option to send more subs at time, only one matching the preference. If pre...

What is TranscodeAudio = false Check Defaultrenderer.conf for possible vaules: # Profile to use for transcoding audio files # Options: "LPCM", "MP3" or "WAV". # Default: LPCM TranscodeAudio = Btw. UMS sends subs depending on preference. It means if subs are not supporte...

Re: Error opening file for writing.
This means UMS is still running in the background so some files are locked. You must close UMS nicely or forcefully by terminating javaw.exe process.
