I don't have problems with AC3 or DTS in an .mkv container. I can get 6 channels for both to my receiver just fine.

On the General Configuration tab under Network settings (advanced) pick Force networking on interface and select the network adapter you use with your server. Also, you can manually set the IP of your server under there as well as adjust the Maximum bandwidth in Mb/s setting. I currently leave mine ...
