Ubuntu 17.1 UMS 7.0

Post by mjnovak77 »

Just installed Ubuntu 17.1 and UMS 7.0 but get errors and UMS not working. Logs are attached. Let me know what I could do? I previousley had UMS 6.5 on Ubuntu 16.04, Tried 6.5 now too but didn't work either. Thanks in advance.

There's a problem because you don't have any shared folders defined. I think this is a bug in the 7.0.0 beta/rc.

Try the lastest stable version, 6.7.4. If that doesn't help, try to define at least one share manually in UMS.conf before starting UMS.

I will try that later. I did try 6.7.4 also, It did not work either but told me to delete my media database. I did that but no luck, I'll try that again also and post the logs later if I can't get anything working. Thanks.

Yes, you will have to delete the media database when going from 7.0.0 to 6.x.x. Post the logs if it still doesn't work.

Well I entered a shared folder manually but it wasn't there when I started UMS? I changed some settings on the navigation share tab while it was running (turned off media library folder) and added the shared folder again then restarted the server. I was able to play a file from the renderer status page after that but could not see the server from the TV (or web interface). I quit and re-started UMS and all the settings I had changed were back to default? Could there be a permission problem somewhere? Heres the logs from this session. Which config file is read at startup? The one in the home directory where I run the file from? Or the one in the .config directory?

Unless you specify a different profile folder from the command line, the one in the .config folder is the default. You can find the path to the profile folder (the folder which contains the UMS.conf used) close to the start of the log file.

The log file you have posted is still from the unstable 7.0.0 version, still with the bug from 7.0.0 present. Please post using 6.7.4.

Ok, just tried 6.7.4 and it seems to be working. The shared folders and settings I had added manually to the .conf file where there and I got no errors. Web interface works. Will try the tv later and let you know if there's any problems. Thanks for the help!
