Not quite wright... It's the startscript. Probably som variables missing. If I start usm via reboot and init.d script there is no folder with Swedish characters, but if I start as root via the same scrip there is.

I'll report when I'll solved it. Any tips?

Problem Solved!
Startscript with:
export LANG=sv_SE.UTF-8

Thats the trick. Maybe it could be in ums.conf or in /etc/defaults/UMS.

Don't you want to always use swedish chars?
I would put that in to mt .login or similar.

Yes, always. Mediafolders may have swedish characters.

I have installed the program under /opt/ums. The config in /etc. Start by system from /etc/init.d/UMS.
Startscript reads /etc/default/UMS if there is one. I think there's the best place to set local variables.
The computer runs 24/7 for MythTV and more...

I have two TV sets (LG and Grundig) which I can connect to the UMS-server. MythTV (0.24) also have serverfunction, but not as standard as UMS. :P
It all works now even with 3D subtext.

I can recomend this server!
