I think you're asked if you want it to be minimized on startup during the wizard that is shown the first time UMS is run. The most likely reason for the confusion is probably that this has started working as a consequence of other fixes (we have an updated appbundler), so that this setting suddenly works. If the wizard was run a long time ago and UMS has been upgraded, I guess it's unlikely to remember having made that choice.

@VorASD - Can you find a debug.log in the described location?

There is no debug.log at ~/Library/Application Support/UMS
There is a UMS.conf file and data and database folders.

UMS.conf:
language = en-US
minimized = false
maximum_bitrate = 30
mpeg2_main_settings = Automatic (Wireless)
x264_constant_rate_factor = Automatic (Wireless)
hide_advanced_options = false
run_wizard = false

Thank you!

Try deleting the database folder and see if UMS will start afterwards. If there is no debug.log, it means that UMS never really start, so something must keep it from starting very early during startup.

I deleted the database and data folder but nothing changed. They are recreated but still no UI or log file.

I'm having the same issue. It started after I installed the 7.0 beta release. I've even tried to delete the app and reinstall older and even the newest 6.7.3 and no menubar icon shows.
