*.MKV Problem with FFmpeg 2.2.2 (needed for Audacity 2.06)
I can not play any MKV File on my Playstation via UMS after installing:

Is there any workarround, so that i can use both?

It is not working with the new version (v4.2.1) either.
Tried Java 7 and 8 -> not working.
Tried the 5er Testversion -> not working
i can watch everything but *.mkv files which is really making me unhappy.
i tried to "downgrade" to the older ffmpeg version, but still, getting the same. is there any way to get this working again? Any ideas?

I was having mkv issues and weird unnecessary transcoding with mp4 files on my system after changing back and forth between UMS versions while troubleshooting another problem about a week ago.
What fixed it for me was to quit UMS and delete the UMS folder found in /Users/<yourname>/Library/Application Support.
You might try moving that UMS folder to your Desktop or elsewhere for temporary backup just in case.
When I restarted UMS I had to go through the initial setup again but my weird issues went away and everything "just works" now.
I don't know if this will work for you but since I've noticed there have been some formatting and other changes to the code and .conf files in recent updates you might have old tweaking or previous version "dust bunnies" in there.
This is now my first line troubleshooting step for strange or otherwise not obvious UMS issues in the future.
Setting up UMS parameters from scratch doesn't take that long with my network configuration fortunately.
FYI I use the tessus ffmpeg builds for iFFmpeg and when experimenting with UMS. I think stock UMS uses them by default as well. They have the most recent versions and old versions going back to 2.1.2 http://www.evermeet.cx/ffmpeg/

update:
just tried it today with a samsung tv and it just worked like a charm!
tried it now back at home with my ps3 and it is not working again!
(tried it with the same file on all tests)
now i get this error message after i tried to start the playback:
"Media Server Error:
A network error has occured.
(80710723)"
