What AlanJ posted solved my issue but I didn't want to delete all the files I just wanted to change the minimise function so what I did is as follows.
goto: /Users/name-of-user/Library/Application Support/UMS
If your library folder isn't showing then press CMD+J to bring up your finder view options and tick the box to show library folder.
open UMS.conf with text edit
change line: minimized = true
change to: minimized = false
save and exit and then just reset USM and you should be good to go.
