Standalone, Headless, Autonomous UNIX UMS Server??

Post by michaelt »

Does anyone know of a dedicated, standalone, headless, autonomous, 24/7 implementation of UMS on a unix based system (OSX, Linux)?

This is what I am putting together.
UMS seems a very good fit and I don't like reinventing wheels!
I would like to leverage off anything that is or is closer to the target system I plan.
It is to be in the public (free) domain.

Any pointers, links, help will be greatly appreciated.

thanx

If you look in the linux forum i believe there maybe people who have done it. But i'm about to setup a linux based UMS running 24/7 myself and that where i'm going to start in.
Sorry if that doesn't help much

Good point - I'll work on a post for there.

Maybe we should startup another forum/topic dealing with it only. I have a check list and wish list I am working off of. Many of the items will leverage off others previous work, some new work and some 'glue'.
I will guess we have a lot of common 'requirements' and probably missed a few that others can contribute.

Only silence doesn't help.
