files with accents do not show

Post by parr »

Hi,

I've just installed USM (I was previously using PS· Media Server).
Everything works fine but my Sony Bravia does not show files with accents. The log says:
"The file XXX could not be parsed. It will be hidden"

The same file can be seen and played in other renderers: VLC in an ipad, a Marantz audio receiver.
If I removed accents, I see the files and can play them in the Bravia.

Summarizing, this is the list of renderers in which the file CANNOT be seen:
Sony Bravia KDL22EX
Web interface

This is the list of renderers which show and play the files correctly:
VLC in the iPad
Marantz NA6005

I'll appreciate any help!

Test valid Title characters

Try this: viewtopic.php?f=10&t=3432&p=16502#p16502
It will identify all your "problem" characters.
MacPro5,1 - 2.8 GHz, 32 GB, 20TB, OS X 10.11.6,
. . . . and a few others.
Samsung UN55C8000
Home Theater (WIP): OS X based now, dedicated Linux later.

Thanks!

But I understand that your post helps to know what are the illegal characters. Well, I know that the accents á,é,í,ó,ú are illegal, or at least problematic for Bravia (although they were not problematic in PS3MS).

Anyway, as far as I understand, your solution is to rename the files avoiding the illegal characters. This is precisely what I dont want to do. WIth movies and music in Spanish, it is kind of painful to check accents in all the titles.

Moreover, PS3MS lists these files without any problem. And USM lists them also in other renderers, as I mention in my post.

Thanks anyway!
