Transcoding quality tweaks on each resolution

Post by Android02 »

I think there should be an option where we're able to manually tweak the Transcoding Quality settings based on a media's input video resolution.

Here's how I've imagined it:

interesting idea, but this setting is based on your LAN settings... So if your whole Network infrastructure is 1GB then the highest setting is fine.

If you have a mixed environment then set this to the wireless setting and everything else will be matched to it.

Assuming you're talking about using the Wired/Wireless Automatic settings, they don't work well with my Powerline LAN adapter limiting my streaming speeds to ~4MB/s (and my wireless is even worse) unless I use H264TSAC3 which has issues when seeking on PS3.

Ive never used those. I always hear bad things about them.

I for one could have used this.

I have 1GB LAN, but slow CPU and my Sony BraviaW5500 has a slow ethernet interface.
So, i could manage to play 720p in decent quality, but 1080 i would have to tweak even more,.. more compression, and even rescale output to make it fit.

A whole script interface for *all those would have been king.

Code: Select all

if(renderer.name == "LivingRoomTV"){
if(file.height > 720){
if(file.hasExternalSubtitles()) {...}else {...}
}else if(file.height > 540){

}else {

}
}
Above would require that the user gives each render a "name" ( via UMS gui )
