[Declined] BD ISO Streaming

Post by spida_singh »

I know there has been some talk about this, but never saw anything in the PS3 Media Server Scene,

- Was this ever considered?
- Do we have the ability to do it based on information below?

http://www.videolan.org/developers/libbluray.html
http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=149392
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Restr ... ayAndHDDVD

Previous PS3 Media Server issue log 646

http://code.google.com/p/ps3mediaserver ... ail?id=646 - JPBarrin raised.

Would be really nice to stream full blu ray iso content with menu's etc to the PS3 for my backups.

Hi spida_singh, welcome to the forum :)
It's a good idea and is possible, but not with menus; it would be like DVD support currently is.
I'll add it to our to-do list :)

Brilliant, thanks :-D. Movies only with full DTSHD audio (7.1) etc would be excellent.

Look forward to it.

Any update -- I'd love to do lossless backups on my favorite movies!

With support for all the best surround formats DTS-HD MA, Dolby True HD etc...

You can always just mux the blu-rays into a container like MKV and they should play perfectly and lossless :)

UMS will stream m2ts files....

Open the ISO with 7zip and extract out the largest .m2ts file from the /BMDV/Stream directory ...

I don't think it's possible to do this. Every method of doing it that I've seen relies on copying the disc to your hard drive beforehand, and we can already play the video files that are in the discs when they are on hard drives, so there doesn't seem like much point to implement this feature.
