Version 7.3.0 released

Post by SubJunk »

General:

You can download it from the front page.

This release introduces standalone builds (separate post to follow), adds folder scanning to the first-run wizard, fixes a database bug, and updates translations.

Changes since 7.2.1:
  • General:
    • Started to release standalone builds for Windows (no Java installation required)
    • Added option to disable startup folder scanning in the first-run wizard
    • Fixed fully played status sometimes not saving
  • Languages:
    • Updated translations via Crowdin

Compatibility notes:

These releases work on all versions of Java 7 onwards.
The Windows releases work on Windows Vista onwards.

Thanks for the release, running smooth so far.

Just noticed a lot warnings like this:
02:16:46 ERROR Database error while writing status "true" to FILES_STATUS for "abbbbaa.mkw": Referentielle Integrität verletzt: "FILENAME_MATCH: PUBLIC.FILES_STATUS FOREIGN KEY(FILENAME) REFERENCES PUBLIC.FILES(FILENAME) ('abbbbaa.mkw')"
Referential integrity constraint violation: "FILENAME_MATCH: PUBLIC.FILES_STATUS FOREIGN KEY(FILENAME) REFERENCES PUBLIC.FILES(FILENAME) ('abbbbaa.mkw')"; SQL statement:
INSERT INTO "PUBLIC"."FILES_STATUS"("ID","FILENAME","MODIFIED","ISFULLYPLAYED")VALUES(DEFAULT,?,?,?) [23506-196]

I installed version 7.3.0 (stand-alone version).
Everthing works, but also a lot of warnings in the log when playing music files, like this one:
10:32:48 ERROR Database error while writing status "true" to FILES_STATUS for "D:\music\Ray Wilson\102 - Thats All.flac": Referential integrity constraint violation: "FILENAME_MATCH: PUBLIC.FILES_STATUS FOREIGN KEY(FILENAME) REFERENCES PUBLIC.FILES(FILENAME) ('D:\music\Ray Wilson\102 - Thats All.flac')"; SQL statement:
INSERT INTO "PUBLIC"."FILES_STATUS"("ID","FILENAME","MODIFIED","ISFULLYPLAYED")VALUES(DEFAULT,?,?,?) [23506-196]

Hi. I tried to install this release, but I got the "no mountable file system" error that other people have experienced on previous releases. I tried the following releases until I got one that worked: 7.3.0, 7.2.1, 7.2.0, 7.1.0, 7.0.1. I was only able to successfully mount the last one.

I am running on an old Mac Pro (2009) that uses OSX 10.11.6 El Capitan. I have a MacBook Air that runs MacOS 10.12.6 Sierra, and it was able to open and mount the dmg file. Unfortunately, my Mac Pro is so old, that it can't be upgraded past El Capitan. As a workaround, I've opened the dmg on the laptop and copied the application over my local network, but that's not really the best solution. I am able to open other dmg files (including UMS 7.0.1) on my Mac Pro, so there's something about the newer dmg files that aren't compatible. I suspect it has to do with the dmg containing an APFS file system instead of an HFS+ file system. Would it be possible to use HFS+ in the dmg file?

I discovered on the web that you can use the command-line tool hdiutil to mount a dmg file. I've included output from both systems below.

Thanks.

Re: Version 7.3.0 released

Post by undermyseat »

Hi, I tried posting this earlier and it doesn't seem to have worked. Sorry if this is a double post.

I tried installing this version and got the "no mountable file system" error that other people have reported on previous versions. So I tried installing these older versions: 7.2.1, 7.2.0, 7.1.0, 7.0.1. Only the last one worked.

I'm using an old Mac Pro 2009 running OSX El Capitan 10.11.6. I have a MacBook Air 2012 running MacOS Sierra 10.12.6, and it was able to open the dmg file. Unfortunately, my Mac Pro is too old to update past El Capitan. I think the problem may be due to using APFS file system instead of the older HFS+. Is it possible to use HFS+ to create the dmg file?

I found a command line tool hdiutil that mounts dmg files, so I captured the output from the two systems. If you're interested in the output, let me now. I can't figure out how to attach files here.

I am having the same "no mountable file system" problem and I believe it is because the latest dmg files are saved in the newer APFS file format
Would it be possible to post HFS file system version of the UMS dmg files ?
The latest version of UMS dmg file that I could attached to my file system was UMS-7.0.1.dmg.

I have also tried to download, "attach" and install version UMS-7.3.1.dmg without success.

After the download I get:

Universal Media Server macOS - 89.10 MB | version: 7.3.1
MD5: 71690ed46137d0b033fed345bb8ef90e

SHA256: b342daeca6fc688d340ba07d5c41ffda6068e21507b47bf9bff8bddb296df4b6

and if i tried to mount the file from the command line I get:

UNKNOWN:~ bartonandrew$ hdiutil attach /Users/bartonandrew/Downloads/UMS-7.3.1.dmg
expected CRC32 $45605010
hdiutil: attach failed - no mountable file systems

Following on from my earlier message, I followed the instructions in this link

( https://github.com/universalmediaserver ... structions )
I managed to use git to clone a copy of the latest UMS repository (currently UMS-7.4) and (after editing the pom.xml file used by Maven to "activate" the osx-java8 profile), I was able to build a version of UMS that will run in apple's older HFS+ file format.

Would it be possible in future to create two dmg files: one for HFS+ and one for the newer APFS ?

Hi andrewbarton, I think I will just build them all in HFS+ now, because I don't see any warnings about it when I use HFS+ files on APFS
