Upgrade Notes:

For all versions:
Some configuration options for 3.x are not compatible with the 2.x releases, so it may be wise to make a backup of your 2.x configuration.
It is recommended (but usually not necessary) to delete your UMS.conf file prior to installing this version. Windows users can choose the "clean install" option while installing instead.

on every update after UMS was scanning the folders the database hs2 file is 2 x bigger.. after closing UMS the database file is empty and i need to recreate the cache database.
why is this? is there a way to use the cache database from older versions? i know sometimes the code for the database is changed and in this case older database files cant be used anymore.. but i get this on every update..

I just have one quick question. Not sure if its a silly one or not. Does the play resume feature only apply to media that's streaming from a hard drive (ie...my PC library)? Or will will it also work for streams running off xbmc-jumpy or channel plugins? Thanks.

Added a loooong text about resume (viewtopic.php?f=4&t=925)
Short answer it should work on jumpy and channels (I know it works on channels I'll release an update shortly to make it even better)...

Been trying out a1 and a2.

When using FFmpeg with .srt subtitles, the subtitles are white and do not respect the color I've chosen in UMS, which MEncoder does.

Also, I can't get FFmpeg and .ass subtitles to work. No combination of settings in the FFmpeg page will get it to display .ass subs which work fine in MEncoder.

Yes we know that the subs don't respect the color you choose when using ffmpeg. But this is a tradeoff right now. Either colors or weird text on your screen (for example the note symbol is not correctly displayed). We choose to start with ensuring that the text is correct then we'll focus on adding subs colors etc.
