“Use LPCM for audio” solved all my problems!

Post by aegez »

I've been going crazy trying to figure out why my movies would occasionally speed up and go out of sync with the audio. I used to think it was because it couldn't handle being paused or rewound etc, but then it would happen when simply watching as well.

Since checking “Use LPCM for audio” it has not happened once - and I've watched about 25 movies since, and can pause, seek, rewind whatever at will.

FWIW I rip my Blu-ray discs using MakeMKV, with no further processing, streaming the .mkv from my Mac to my PS3 via UMS (hardwired), with the PS3 going into my Sony STR-DH750 via HDMI.

It is rock solid right now. I guess either the PS3 or the Sony was having issues with Dolby or DTS? Whatever it is, “Use LPCM for audio” in the transcode settings absolutely fixed it.
