Access UMS From Outside Network?

Post by jo15765 »

I have used the trial version of Serviio and the one feature that almost makes me want to purchase is the ability to set-up a web interface to connect to https://IPAddress:port/console/login .... and I can view and stream everything in my shared folders.

Does UMS have something similar? I saw that you could connect to https://IP:PORT/console but this seems to only work from inside my network. Is there a way to make it "forward facing"? Maybe through a service like DynDNS and assign a host name to the IP & set-up port forwarding?

yes, accessing UMS web interface remotely is totally doable. Look at forwarding port 9001. Once this port is forwarded you can access it by referencing your external ip followed by port 9001.

like this: http://my_external_ip:9001
