been using ps3 media server and now UMS for yeaaaaaars.....

since the release of ps4 the ps3 prices have dropped. Ps3 is one of the best media players due to the fact that it can play blurays and GAMES as well as stream with wireless chargeable remotes. Stream well thanks to the creators of this app.
ive got a ps3 in every room these days (rooms with a tv of course), except the living room where i play PS4 when the gf isn't home. She wanted to watch a movie just now that wasnt on netflix and the PS4 media player is ****n garbage. Tried to play it and no good. I came on here just to see if these guys had done anything to try and help.. and sure enough.... theres a profile that all of a sudden it plays first try, it didnt recognize the ps4 as a ps4, instead as a ps3.. so i had to make default ps4 but meh. The media player on ps4 is still garbage and im sure theres a ton of limitations with Ps4 support with UMS (who needs to rewind anyway). But at least it plays and the sound seems to work through all channels.. hard to tell really but it sounds good enough.

Big thanks to the devs here! Really appreciate your work and upkeep of this product.

Thanks for the feedback :) Does PS4 still get detected as PS3 for you? If you give logs for that we can fix it

haha sure.
funny thing, its not detecting the PS4 at all in the status screen. (it did the other night). Tried restarting PC, services and PS4 several times. It seems to detect my Yamaha receiver pretty instantly all the time though and forces it to the default renderer (which is set to PS3 right now, which doesnt matter). Anyway, the logs still seem to ping the PS4 and detect it as a PS3. The ip in the log to look for is 10.7.16.100 for the PS4. Let me know if you need TRACE logs.
thx!

Yeah full trace logs would be great :) I can't see why it would detect it like that from those logs

I donno man.
so I hit the TRACE button, said yes to restart in TRACE logging mode. When it restarted, it found my yamaha as a yamaha receiver and the PS4 as a PS4 and the PS4 shows up in the status bar now. I unchecked the check mark beside force renderer.... that must be why. On the left it says use this if detection fails and on the right is a check mark. I must have checked it thinking "yes.. enable this option". Not reading the text beside the checkmark further to the right.

Never been an issue since ive never streamed from anything other than a PS3 before. Looks alright now. Thx.

Just an update to this.

Its pretty inconsistent after all.

Trying to use it today and its not finding the PS4, but its finding the Yamaha again as a PS3. I restarted everything a bunch of times no luck. Shows up in the PS4, but wont play anything. Tried enabling trace logs and restarting no luck. Then just tried trace logs again and restarting and now the PS4 will play everything, but its still not in the status window and no mention of the PS4 in the logs. No trace entries in the log either. Yamaha still seen as a ps3.

The logs show it loads up all renderers at the start too.

Donno whats up. It does work eventually but its def not consistent.

This is all thats in the logs after loading the renderers. It seems to know the Yamaha is what it is, but the PS3 logo still shows in status, no PS4 detected at all and im watching a movie through it right now. Doesnt even show the movie loaded.

Only thing I can think of is I have "run at startup " checked off, but I don't see an icon in the task bar for it at startup. So to access the interface I have to open a new instance (I assume its opening the current) since only run once instance is checked as well. Perhaps this is broken? and its running multiple instances anyway so the output im expecting to see is in another instance? But if thats the case, it's weird cuz I just quit this one to see if my movie would carry on and it doesnt.. closed it right away. Also, note that its not installed as a service
