Hello,
Since MediaInfo is weak when it got to images informations and Metadatas, i don't how you parse images in UMS by the way, and you had implemented TwelveMonkeys, maybe the next step to make UMS more universal is to have a more powerful images parser for a very selective transcoding.
Of course, this is only if it was in your plan...it why i would like share the active and beautiful peace of work :

P.S. It's look like you are using Sanselan, which is not a very active java project anymore ?
