I have been trying for sometime to get UMS t o operate as a service on Windows Server 2012 Essentials R2.
Given this is a headless device then UMS will start with the system boot and not require a user logon.
Thanks to https://github.com/UniversalMediaServer ... issues/686 I have finally found the correct firewall settings. I think these are generic and should apply to all versions of Windows ..
UMS Firewall ports ..
Inbound TCP (5001, 9001) UDP (1900)
Outbound TCP ( 5001, 5002, 9001) UDP (1900)
