@boss it's helpful that you found your TV supports SRT subtitles, but it still leaves us with a problem that transcoding doesn't work. Please try changing the value for "TranscodeVideo" in the renderer config file and seeing if any of them will transcode for your TV
Possible options are:

MPEGPS-MPEG2-AC3
MPEGTS-MPEG2-AC3
MPEGTS-H264-AC3
MPEGTS-H264-AAC

@Subjunk

I will test those options and report back.

Some possibly helpful information is that if I use the LG-EG910V.conf file I can go into the TRANSCODE folder and
play videos (only tested with MP4 at this stage) with all the transcoding methods.

Thanks

@SubJunk

I have tested with the following results:
MPEGPS-MPEG2-AC3:
FFmpeg - Videos will start but the videos stop, start & stutter.
MEncoder - Some videos won't start and some will start. The videos which do start then start, stop & stutter.
tsMuxer - Won't play any videos.

MPEGTS-MPEG2-AC3:
No videos will play with any transcoding method.

MPEGTS-H264-AC3:
No videos will play with any transcoding method.

MPEGTS-H264-AAC: (default in the config file)
No videos will play with any transcoding method.

Thanks

Oh cool, that's good to know that config transcodes. I've moved some settings from there into the attached one, can you please test it?

@SubJunk

Sorry to say the changes did not make any difference and no Videos would play when transcoded.

Any further suggestions are welcome.

Thanks

@SubJunk

I tried the last conf file and these were the results.
Videos without subtitles.
When in the TRANSCODE folder the videos would play with the all different transcoding methods.

Videos with SRT sub titles.
When in the transcode folder, some would play with some of the transcoding methods and some would not play with any of the transcoding methods.
Of the ones which would play:
Some would not display the sub titles with any of the transcoding methods.
Some would display the sub title with one of the transcoding methods.

In the TRANSCODE folder (videos with SRT sub titles), there are several display icons which are (from left to right)
|just has the name of the video | says No Transcoding | the rest which are all the transcoding methods |
I found if I selected the first one (just the name of the video), the videos played and sub titles were displayed.
I'm not sure if this first one is transcoding (with auto selection of method) or just plays it with no transcoding.

Hope the information helps.

Thanks

Our progress in this thread has just been released in version 6.7.4
If there are still issues let's work from that version. Thanks for all your testing!

@SubJunk
My LG WebOS 3.5 TV is working exactly the same as my previous post.
It could be that it is working as it should be. The TV does play the subtitle correctly now.

I'm not sure if the TV is doing that natively or is transcoding.

On another note, my LG-BP550 Bluray players seem to be working a bit smoother and without any problems with V6.7.4

Thanks for all your support.

Looks like the WebOS.conf file provided does not include all the necessary supported subtitle formats, causing UMS to think certain embedded subtitles are not supported, triggering transcoding when it is not necessary.
This was causing a lot of my .mkv files to take forever to start or navigate (skip forward/back). Just about all my movies/anime was behaving in this manner which was a pain.
Now that I updated the .conf file, it works beautifully. Figured I'd share it with anyone else who had this issue.
