LG WebOS 3.5

Post by boss »

I have a 2017 LG 55UJ652T television running LG's latest WebOS version 3.5.

Whilst the TV works with UMS, I don't think it is picking up on the WebOS conf file . (or any other conf file for that matter).
It seems to get the Error:
Subscription failed: webos-second-screen-3000-3001 on LG-webOSTV-1: HTTP response was: 412 Precondition Failed

The attached zip file contains:
debug.log
LG-WebOS.conf.txt (the original conf file but changes to "UserAgentSearch")
LG-WebOSMod.conf.txt (conf file with a few changes after reading an old ums post about problems with LG-WebOS.conf)

Getting actual technical information about the TV is near on impossible. Whilst these details were usually in the manual, these days they are not.
Information I have been able to retrieve about LG's WebOS 3.5 in general is:

AUDIO FORMATS SUPPORTED
AAC (Advanced Audio Coding)
AC3 / AC-3
aptX / apt-X
FLAC (Free Lossless Audio Codec, .flac)

RealAudio (.ra, .ram)
WMA (Windows Media Audio, .wma)

LPCM

VIDEO FORMATS SUPPORTED

AVI (Audio Video Interleaved, .avi)
DivX (.avi, .divx, .mkv)
Flash Video (.flv, .f4v, .f4p, .f4a, .f4b)
H.263
H.264 / MPEG-4 Part 10 / AVC video
H.265 / MPEG-H Part 2 / HEVC
MKV (Matroska Multimedia Container, .mkv .mk3d .mka .mks)
QuickTime (.mov, .qt)
M2TS (Blu-ray Disc Audio-Video (BDAV) MPEG-2 Transport Stream, .m2ts, .MTS)

MPEG-4
TS (MPEG Transport Stream, .ts, .tsv, .tsa)
VC-1
VP9

Any advice on what else I could try appreciated.

Thanks

Did you have looked at that ?
viewtopic.php?f=9&t=3046&start=10#p29948

As i cannot see your UMS.conf, i suspect that you are running UMS in headless mode.
I also know that Linux users sometime follow headless install steps found on Internet, that are not correct and give this kind of issue. So, if its your case, consider uninstall UMS, read our Wiki, and reinstall it correctly.

Thanks for the reply.
Correct, UMS is running on Gentoo Linux in headless mode.
I don't believe that any of those things you mentioned are an issue.
Besides the Webos 3.5 TV I am also running LG-BP550 bluray players.
Everything works fine with those LG-BP550 bluray players and transcoding works without error.

I did retry using "./UMS.sh headless" to start UMS but the problem still persisted as in the log I posted in my first post.
The error: " Subscription failed: webos-second-screen-3000-3001 on LG-webOSTV-1: HTTP response was: 412 Precondition Failed"

There was a previous post in this forum where someone was getting the same error with an LG WebOS TV:

Is there anything else you can suggest I try.

Thank you.

Please post your UMS.conf file.

The problem have nothing to do with the double screen registration, as we didn't implemented it, so it cannot, and most of user don't use this service.

Your problem is that its unregistred, no renew the registration of your renderer, for the 4 main services need.

I suspect this UMS.conf not being the one used by UMS headless. Make a search and you should find other ums.conf in other folder. As i'm a total noobs at Linux things, i couldn't you more than you can find by yourself.

Your renderer is correctly detected, so you don't need to set it as default and force it as you do (you can delete you tweak and additional renderer file), but it seem that something on your network block the communication.
I suggest you to disable your firewall and try again.

And if you still get issue, provide us, as explained here, only your TRACE log.
To know how to proceed for the headless case, read our Wiki:

Thank you for your understanding.

Thank you for your reply.
To answer some of your replies.
The UMS.conf file I supplied is the one being used by my system. It is located at /root/.config/UMS/UMS.conf and is the only UMS.conf file on my system apart from the ones which get installed in the /opt/ums folder when installed.
Also, the /root/.config/UMS.conf is the only UMS.conf file which has the path to my media which shows up correctly.
Also, when I set "log_level = TRACE" in /root/.config/UMS/UMS.conf it does actually do a trace log.
Also in the log is: Profile configuration file: /root/.config/UMS/UMS.conf
So I think we can be quite sure UMS is using the UMS.conf file that I believe it is.

I don't have any form of firewall on my LAN at all so this cannot be an issue.

My system is setup fine for a headless system. It works fine with my LG-BP550 blue ray players as well as BubbleUPnP on android devices. Its only the LG TV running WebOS 3.5 which is a problem.

I might be wrong, but from information I can find, the error in the log:
Subscription failed: webos-second-screen-3000-3001 on LG-webOSTV-1: HTTP response was: 412 Precondition Failed
Is where the renderer places a precondition on the registration and if that precondition is not met then the renderer does not renew the registration.
(I might be completely wrong but that is how I read it)

The debug file in "Trace" mode is attached.
Thanks

Thanks.
Yes, now, with a correct log, i can see that your connection is fine.

So, some changes have been done in the Linux UMS.conf file, because i remember that it looked differently some months ago, or Alzeihmer is coming ;)

Sorry, but as i'm not an english native, i'm not sure to understand what is your problem ?
Can you stream the videos to your TV ?

Because as i said, webos-second-screen-3000-3001 is not implemented in UMS, but also not need to stream videos in "standard" users cases. So as long as you don't try to stream to a second screen that should be fine.
