Samsung UA40ES6700M struggle

Hey guys,
I have been struggling with UMS and my TV for some time now. Generally it functions correctly, but I have 2 main issues I need some guidance with to help make it function correctly for me.
1) Some files (particularly ones with subtitles) generally won't play at all. My TV just usually pops up with a message saying "File type unknown" or something similar and won't play. Some WILL play, but the subtitles won't function.
2) For almost all videos it cuts off and says "Network Connection Lost" and the UMS connection to the TV is completely closed, at around 2-5 minutes left of any video I am watching. Its really quite annoying.
I am not quite techy when it comes to this kind of thing, but I would really appreciate any advice I can get in terms of optimal setup and configuration of UMS for my TV.
