Apple TV + VLC

Post by tangles »

I have an old-ish Sony BRAVIA (HX-750) which works OK with UMS except for large video files. I recently installed the VLC app on my Apple TV device and it handles large files with no problems.
There are a couple of minor issues, however:
1. It is very slow to load large file directories. I don't know if this is a problem with UMS or the VLC app. I will try splitting my file directories into smaller subdirectories.
2. The VLC app appears on the UMS main panel as "unknown renderer". Is there a configuration file for this app?

What is the problem with the large video files? Can you send the log to see what happened? It is a VLC problem to be very slow because of the bad DLNA implementation.

There is no problem with large video files and Apple TV. The problem occurred with UMS connected directly to my BRAVIA TV.

Apple TV is slow to load large DIRECTORIES. I don't know if this is an Apple TV or UMS issue.

The Apple TV shows up on the UMS main panel as "unknown renderer". Any suggestions?
