I don't think our engines (FFmpeg and MEncoder) support transcoding to a format the Vita supports by default. I will keep investigating it though.
Plex gets around it by using a modified version of FFmpeg so we may look into that too.

Hi all,

I have installed UMS 4.4.0 and it just work great for my PS3 but not for the vita

I have tried to use the custom profile v2 but with no success

do I have to use it with UMS 5.0.0-a1 to get something working

the symptoms :
it does not display all the content and no video is working (black screen)

Hi

Has anyone had any success getting UMS to play xvid and mkv files from a pc to a vita yet? I've been trying all evening, tried plex and emby, and they were next to useless, trying this now, it actually shows my vita connecting but that's it, i can't get it to actually find the avi/xvid files nor the mkv files on my pc, let alone stream them

I converted one of the avis to mp4 and the vita will happily stream that through the vitas inbuilt videos app, but i really don't want to be forced to convert any video file i want to watch on my vita first... it's 2016, why are these formats still not being supported? :(

@Sami32 Please don't use this forum to get testers for your project

Edit: I have removed your last two posts. If you want to contribute to UMS you are still free to do so and post builds of it, but this is not a forum for other projects.

@Subjunk Cool, it seem that i still do, doesn't? ;)
https://github.com/UniversalMediaServer ... its/master

EDIT:
It is your choice to leave them test it from UMS when we will have merged it in DMS and that you will have cherry-picked it in UMS, but i still find that it was nicer and safer for UMS users to do the way i offered as you already know that for now the DMS code beneficy only to UMS users and you ;)

@Nadahar was the greatest UMS contributor with more than 62000 lines of code added in around 2 years ;)
Much less from me i agree, and for you it is not possible to see your real code contribution from the Git history as when you've created UMS project you've imported the PMS history under your name, that is said i don't think that you've done that in purpose.
