VU+ Solo 4K

Post by Firlefanzus »

Hello my friends,

I'm an absolute beginner and I'd like to use the VU+ Solo 4K as a DLNA client.

I tried to build a renderer.conf but that's too complicated for me.
Also at the risk of making me ridiculous here, I send my not finished file and the logs as attachments.

Maybe there is somebody who can show me the way through the jungle.

The only specs I was able to find on the German web site (on the US web site I couldn't find any): http://vuplus.de/produkt_solo4k.php - "Videodekodierung:"
Videokompression HVEC / H.265, MPEG-2 / H.264 und MPEG-1 kompatibel
Videostandard PAL G/ 25 Hz, NTSC
Bildformat 4:3 / 16:9
Letterbox für 4:3 TV-Geräte

Thank you very much indeed for your efforts.

While somebody else works on a new renderer conf, would you mind using a custom build that I'm working on?

Unfortunately, the custom version isn't working very well.

1. The VU+ Solo 4 K (192.168.0.21) is not recognized by the UMS
2. Contents of the shared folders are not visible except *.mp3-files

The log file is too big, but I copied a section out of it as an attachment.
There is one line which seems conspicuous to us:
DEBUG 2016-11-23 15:02:37.128 [mplayer.exe-0] net.pms.io.ProcessWrapperImpl.run Starting C:\work\UniversalMediaServer/bin/win32/mplayer.exe dummy

I found an old post from January 2010 about the VU+ specs and added it as an attachment.

Thank you very much for taking some time.

You can zip the log files for uploading. Without complete logs, it's difficult to trace the origin of the problem. An important piece of info. in the log is the response to GetProtocolInfo request - this tells UMS about the capabilities of the UPnP client. Also, try to test with a small library for easy troubleshooting.

Thank you very much for your engagement.

I have neither the time nor the desire to get into this matter, of which I understand nothing.

I found the Twonky Server and bought a Licence after testing. The Twonky Server works great.
We can play all file formats except *.wtv right out of the box now.
As well on the VU+ Solo 4 K with its MediaPlayer as on Windows and Android Phones with several UPnP-Apps.
This is the result we have expected.

And that's the time to say Good Bye to UMS - unfortunately.

Thanx a lot for the insights in UMS. But I find it too complicated for a family father who has not enough time and nerves to beat with it.

Thank you very much again to the whole UMS community. You're doing a great job!!
