How to Only Transcode audio and stream video without any transcoding to PS4?

Post by KhizerK3 »

Hi Guys,

I have been using UMS for a while now for watching media on PS4. As most of the files nowadays have DTS audio and PS4 media player does not support DTS audio, so playing directly from USB on PS4 causes audio not supported problem.

While using UMS, this problem is solved but I see lots of degradation in video quality. I want to somehow, transcode only audio using UMS and let the video stay untouched by UMS. Is that possible? If so, kindly help me on this.

Regards,

Hello there, Great Job!

I use UMS with Sharp Aquos, all i need is work fine. I read a lot of post here but, i still can't make this:
MKV container
Video x264
Audio DTS
Tv can read directly x264, but can't read DTS audio

and in this case UMS transode all / video and audio
Please give a hint, how to USM remux/transcode only audio, and passthru the video.

Yhank You in advance!

UMS calls everything "transcode" even if it use one or more of the original streams as they are. If your renderer configuration is correct so that it transcodes to a h264 format and the h264 if withing the configured level specification, UMS will do just that when transcoding.

Guys have you tried to set FFmpeg as primary transcode engine and on its setting page set "Remux video with tsMuxeR when possible instead of transcoding"? It could copy video as it is and transcode audio to PCM format. Try it and send the log following the rules written in red above.

EDIT: of course when video has external subtitles then video will be always transcoded and tsMuxeR not used.

Yes, but i thing that someting in renderer is not ok. In settings for ffmpeg and mencoder is checked remux when is possible. USM stream video and audio, but TV don't support DTS audio.
Let's do it!

@Vick you are right that your Aquos.conf is wrong. First of all the UserAgentSearch should not be used and for recognition could be used only the

Code: Select all

UpnpDetailsSearch = SharpDMR
and than you should set the UMS default renderer to "Unknown renderer" to let the UMS to recognise the renderer.
Second you should set

Code: Select all

MediaInfo = true
to enable the setting of supported formats to let UMS to decide which format should be transcoded and which could be only muxed. Please do it, test it and send the log again.

EDIT: sorry I ovelooked the log protocols supported by your TV and as you can see

Code: Select all

there is not supported MKV video so it should be transcoded but You can try what I recommended.
