x64 transcoding engines

Post by Vick »

Hello,

i spend a nice weekend with UMS... :) and many movies!
I want to ask about detection of x86 and x64 OS. I saw in install folder of UMS that is present ffmpeg64, but x64 WIndows (or UMS), not used. Mencoder is only 32bit.
How is UMS(OS) decide about that? Until I renamed ffmpeg64.exe to ffmpeg.exe the UMS always trancode with 32 bit version.
The present version of mencoder is only 32 bit. Is there is option to adding more easy ways to select engine?

Thank You in advance!

I think UMS use the 64 bit version if the JVM is 64 bit. That means your installed Java version. Try to install a 64 bit Java. That said, I don't think it matters much, as there's no allocation of large chunks of memory when transcoding.

Regarding MEncoder we use a custom build which I don't think has been built for x64.
