Hi ... I always keep up-to-date with the latest UMS releases but have had to revert back to 7.0.1 from 7.2.1 as there was the commonly-reported issue with MKV files not able to be played on the PS3. As soon as I downgraded (I knew for a fact that 7.0.1 worked in this area) the files were able to be played again.
Am wondering if anyone has found a workaround or solution to this issue on the later versions. I'm fine using 7.0.1 for the moment but would like to upgrade again once I can find a resolution here.

7.0.1 is the last version that plays nice with my PS3 or 4 with MKV files. There is definitely a major issue with newer versions and MKV files on the PSX

i´ve tried to use this new version but its working too unstable for me so i went back to 7.2.0. reguarding the playback issues on my standard i didn't have any issues with mkv files and even now using the pro the files that sometimes for some reason are not opening i use the transcoding options like ts muxer, ffmpeg and etc usualy it Works most of the time only on rare ocasions that none of the transcoding options avaliable work that i can't watch the content i was trying to.

Yes I tried the latest 7.3.0 today hoping that it would fix the MKV playback issues and had to revert immediately back to 7.0.1

Unfortunately, 7.3 and 7.3 standalone will not play MKV files on my PS3 or PS4 Had to go back to 7.0.1 which works fine.

Can you please follow the Forum rules and send the log trying to play MKV files for version 7.3.0 and also for version 7.0.1?

Try keeping your renderer config from an older version and copy it over to the new version and see if it helps.
I found in a previous version there were changes to the configs that stopped my PS3 playing mkv's (it might have been a test version i had been using at the time though)

I do this for my PS4 config as the one supplied (last time i looked, probably changed now) didn't have support for subs without transcoding so i added that myself.

The PS3 and PS4 confs are not changed even from the version 6.8.0 so the problem must be somewhere else.

I discovered why MKV movies are not playing on my PS3 or 4 with versions higher than 7.0.1. If I make the MKV file keeping all the audio tracks it fails to play. Get the message cannot play this media. If I make the MKV file keeping just one of the audio formats, doesn't matter which one, it plays fine. Will post a new thread and add the log files. If I use version 7.0.1 the MKV will play fine no matter how many audio formats I have.

i've took a liberty to test mkv files that i have here with the lastest 7.3.0 one is the recent fast and furious movie and the other is an episode of star trek Discovery both with mkv containers and they're working fine without transcoding required even when switched to ps4 pro the files are still working i had no trouble with the ums since 7.1.0 at least with file types maybe is just luck but i don't know why other people are having issues i hope the problem can solved.
