[Solved] UMS protects folders with sub-folders from deletion, any way to fix this?

Post by wurstpistole »

So since UMS hit version 7 I noticed that UMS locks down folders that have subfolders in them, meaning I can not delete them unless I either
a) close UMS or
b) go inside the folders and delete the subfolders first, which works

I can perfectly delete folders that do not have sub-folders in them.
Any option to remove UMS write-protecting folders with subfolders?

This might be because we are watching the folders for changes. I will look into it

I just want to report back,
after updating to 7.3.1 the issue was to some extent fixed.
I can delete folders with subfolders in them. But only if said subfolder is empty or does not contain a file that UMS plays. If there is an indexeable video file in it, then it's protected again.
Example:

If I have folder1 containing videofile.avi, I can delete folder1 fine
If I have folder1 that contains a sub-folder with a videofile.avi in it, I can delete the sub-folder itself, but I can not delete folder1 while the sub-folder is in it

I want to report back on this,
This seemingly was not an issue with UMS. I upgraded my hardware and set up a fresh Windows installation while doing so.
Now the issue is completely gone. It seems something in my Windows config prevented the folders from deletion. Still this only happened while UMS was active, but I have no idea what the connection is.
I set up UMS the exact same way now, and the issue is not present anymore.
