ums 7.xx keeps javaw.exe running after closing ums

Post by redavenger »

hey guys
as per title i've noticed after playing/streaming something from one of my devices from ums on my pc, after you close ums
the java program javaw.exe keeps running.
however whats more interesting, is that you cant "kill" the process. and when you try to taskkill via command prompt, it says that the process is not running,
even though you can see it in task manager.
im running windows 7 64bit.
and the only way you can get rid of it is rebooting the pc.
this issue, ive noticed is only happening with ums version 7.xx

any suggestions? or is this a current bug.

This bug has always happened sometimes if MediaInfo doesn't release the file properly but maybe we have made it happen more with v7. Having said that I run UMS on Windows 7 64-bit too and haven't experienced this problem.
Does it happen only if you have been playing files, or if it has automatically detected a new file, or are there any other behaviors you can link it to?

ive found that this issue exists after playing a file from / to my sony tv
however when playing to/from my fetch box and i close ums, javaw.exe closes properly.

so im thinking there must be something in the sony config file that i might need to change ?

It's possible that the TV doesn't send a "stopped playing" signal to UMS. Can you provide logs using the steps above in red so I can see if that is the case?
