Problems with danish subtitles

Post by sylvest86 »

For some reason Universal media player can't show the danish letters Æ,Ø,Å when i see a movie with danish subtitles. Instead it shows some weird symbols. Anyone have a solution? :)

Please can you follow the Forum rules written in red above and send the log? It seems that the danish language is not properly recognised.

I watch Norwegian subtitles with no problems with the same letters. This is clearly an encoding problem. Try to save your subtitles as UTF-8 with BOM and see if that helps. You can use any decent text editor like Notepad++ to open, convert and save text files like .srt.

If you are on Windows, good old Notepad will do. When you use "save-as" dialog you can choose the encoding from the dropdown.
