[Solved] TVs can no longer see UMS

Post by dmitche3 »

Installed UMS yesterday for the first time replacing my customized PS3Media Server and things looked promising. I was able to set it up and run for 3-6 hours without an issue. Restarting numerous times for changes. Then, something broke.
While UMS can see my three Samsung SmartTVs, the TVs cannot see UMS.

What didn't work so far:
Decided to reinstall (not clean) to see if problem cleared up as I suspected that perhaps something (namely installation of the source code) was interfering with the original installation, which I had done since the original install. :(
Re-did install with clean install. No difference. The TVs can not see UMS but UMS reports the TVs.
Tried specifying the interface, IP address, port as these were issues with PS3Media server since I had multiple subnets. Nothing.

Started Wireshark and I can see that packets are going from the TV to UMS (74 bytes in length) but I see nothing from UMS. CORRECTED: Trace is now showing pings and responses.

Strange thing is that this was working fine until something changed within UMS. I have made no system changes in months to my PC. To repeat myself, a clean install did not fix the problem which is very strange. The only difference from this clean install and the previous would be that the source code had been downloaded via UMSBuilderV2.5a.

Two things look strange in the log file to me that I know nothing about.

1. These may be nothing. The uuid shown is that of UMS, or It could be the whole issue. :(

2. Note: My network is 192.168.2.0/ 255.255.255.128: 192.168.2.100 is my UMS server.

TRACE 20:19:18.744 [New I/O worker #76] Ignoring self-originating request from /192.168.2.100:52911

Addendum: I have no problems with my modified version of PS3media server as that is still working. The issue is not a network issue nor something wrong with my PC.

Please make logs using this version of UMS, it is a build made specifically for debugging this issue: http://www.spirton.com/uploads/UMS/UMS-764ce59.exe

I have the same issue. Even WinMediaPlayer on the same pc doesn't recognize the mediaserver but UMS recognize clients.
I'll install this debug version and post the log later.

Aaaand found the problem: me!
Last week I added a second ip address in a different subnet to my LAN card and UMS used that ip.

@Jacq1956

Delete your BRAVIAKDL-48W600B-000000.conf file and modify your Sony-BraviaW.conf file as following:

Replace your line by this line:

Code: Select all

UpnpDetailsSearch = KDL-48W600B
Add this line:

Code: Select all

UpnpAllow = postpone

And delete this line from your UMS.conf file:

Code: Select all

uuid = fed46df2-1533-4e1d-af71-dca2eb0810c8
You can edit it from UMS GUI, in the "General Configuration" tab with "Edit UMS configuration file manually".

In the "General Configuration" tab set "Default renderer when automatic detection fails" to ""Lecteur multimédia inconnu"" and restart UMS.

Please, take time to give feedback or to post an other Trace log if you still have issue.

EDIT: It's not related with this issue, but you should have streaming/transcoding issues later, as your MediaInfo is not installed, not working.
If you need some Linux install advices, you can have a look at our wiki:

Still the same response from UMS after modifications. Is there something else hidden?
Here's the TRACE log. Thank's for you support.

As i already told you, your UMS is incorrectly installed:

Code: Select all

INFO 2017-03-08 16:10:00.225 [main] Make sure you have libmediainfo and libzen installed
If our Wiki doesn't helped you, try in the Linux section of this forum, as i'm not familiar with Linux, and link it to this issue.
libzen.so
libmediainfo.so
It's better to get a working program before debugging attempt, IMO.

I've installed the zenlib and mediainfo libraries. But what i don't understand is that UMS recognise Sony Bravia, which is DLNA complient and has all the tools to connect with UMS. I tried with Serviio server and it connects flawlessly. I suppose that everything is there to connect. But what are those 404 and 412 code send. I hope you can go forward with theses info.
Thank's for support again.
