2.1.0 Won't start up.

Post by futurealbert »

As the title says really. Updated not too long ago, program doesn't launch.
Running windows 7 x64. 2.0.0 Worked fine for me. If you need any info from me, just let me know.
Thanks.
Wonderful program.

Same Issue as above.
2.0.0 works fine after re-install
Tried install 2.1.0 as Admin and run as Admin. No go.

First try finding the debug.log file (it's found in the install dir normally C:\Program Files\UniversalMediaServer or C:\Program Files (x86)\UniversalMediaServer).
Secondly how much memory did you give UMS when you installed it? Default is 768 Mb but perhaps you need a lower setting. Run the insall program again and lower the value.

Tried 512 and 1500 for memory.
There are no entries in the debug.log file at all updated by trying to launch 2.1.0.
Time stamp on debug.log file does not even change when installing and then launching 2.1.0
Installed on two other Win 7 x64 one a fresh install and the other an update. No Problems!

On problem PC
Completely uninstalled, deleted, cleaned registry, disabled AV and Anti-Malware, reboot.
Fresh install same issue.

Got the same issue here.

When I install 2.1.0 and look at the taskmanager java starts but a second later it's not there anymore.
When I do a reinstall of 2.0.0 it works great.

Seems something is not working good in 2.1.0

I am running Windows 7 x86 SP1 with the latest patches

If someone can upload their debug.log that would be great

Feeling a bit under the weather sorry, here is my debug.log. Not sure how helpful it will be. I tried removing it to make a new one by starting up UMS, but nothing was created so enjoy this big one. Might have traces of 2.0.0 in there from messing with installs.

Thanks, futurealbert, but like you said that is only for 2.0.0.
If it doesn't get made in the installation directory, it is probably in: C:\Users\YourUsername\AppData\Local\Temp\debug.log

Same as the rest running Win7 sp1 x64.

2.10 messes the whole OS up - e.g selecting empty on Recycle Bin would do nothing.

Back to 2.0.0 for now. Thanks for all your hard work.

Strangely no debug.log is getting created in my temp directory.
