help streaming aiff & wav files ( Marantz NA6005 )

Post by Miklos »

I am streaming from UMS on my Mac (10.6.8) to a Marantz NA6005. FLAC & Mp3 files open a treat but I can't get the Marantz to pick up any AIFF or WAV files from my Mac. UMS is as it was downloaded - I haven't altered or changed any default settings. Any advice would be welcome.

Does it work with mencoder? (#-transcode folder-#)
Which renderer profile are you using with your Marantz player?

Thanks for getting back to me.

Sorry to sound 'dumb' over this but I am unsure what you mean. Can you 'spell it out for me' - Cheers.

Nevermind my question about mencoder.. it seems there's only ffmpeg as engine for audio files.

On your status tab in UMS, click the icon of your marantz-player, the popup window will tell which config-file it's currently using

So your player is currently using the Philips Streamium config.

Ok, I tried to create a config for you.
In your program folder you should have a folder called "renderers"

Put this config in there, then quit/restart UMS.
Marantz-NA.conf
(422 Bytes) Downloaded 490 times
Your player should automatically use this config, ..unless you "forced" the philips config.

If you can see the config is being used, then try play some aiff and wav files and see how it goes

Many thanks for doing this.

I can't locate a folder named "renderers' on my Mac - however I have placed the config in the UMS folder as follows:

Library/Application Support/UMS/ 'new config'

Restarted UMS still it still shows the Philips config when I identify the Marantz. As far as I know I have not forced the Marantz to adopt the Philips config.

I must be putting the new Marantz config in the wrong folder or something.

Sorry to sound like such a dunce over this :-(

Do I need to remove the old UMS config now that I have added the new Marantz prior to restart?

Progress!!!!

I was able to identify the renders folder correctly from your suggestion following the last topic at the link provided.

The Marantz is now identified correctly as the config in the renders window (thanks for preparing the config - I'm sure that other Marantz users will be able to take advantage).

The big test is receiving wav & aiffs on the Marantz......

Pleased to report that wav files are now playing vis the Marantz - LOUD & CLEAR :D

Still having trouble bringing in aiff but I will keep on checking what can come through.

WAV, FLAC & MP3 is not bad going from where I started!

Once again - thanks for ALL your assistance (and patience)!
