Re: Pulling in files from External Sources

Thanks to Samii32 & squadjot for replies.

Does the file play with the [No Encoding] option from the #--transcode--# folder?

I can't find an option to enter NO ENCODING as suggested - check out attached screen grabs. Am I looking in the right place?

Cheers

From looking at your screenshots the transcode folder should be visible on your renderer (when browsing your files).

Thanks for your reply, squadjot

I can't locate any option on the Marantz to select NO ENCODING as suggested.

Attached is the supported files page from the Marantz handbook - showing aiff/aif as supported (but I already know this since they playback from i-Pod/USB sticks direct into the Marantz). It just seems that AIFF for some reason are not being allowed (FILE FORMAT ERROR) - mp3, WAV and FLAC all come through without any additional settings.......:-(

@Miklos Without your log i'll not guessed it, as i'm not familiar with MAC OS and you posted in PC section...

If you replace your UMS FFMpeg version by that one:
http://www.osxexperts.net/ffmpeg22osx106.dmg
you should be able to get some improvements.
Don't forget to rename it as the one used by UMS.

Set FFMpeg as your first choice video engine and send us a new log for see if it'll now work as expected.

Is your MAC Intel based ? if yes, you should download this more updated version:
http://www.ffmpegmac.net/resources/Snow ... 0.2015.zip
Extract from the ZIP archive and do as explained above.

P.S. Your actual FFMpeg version is not supported on your OS.

Thanks for your valuable input, Sami32 - I really appreciate your time and experience.

I am not 100% sure what I am doing with these FFMEG settings BUT I have downloaded both codes from the links but am unsure how I link these through to UMS.

Don't forget to rename it as the one used by UMS.
Set FFMpeg as your first choice video engine and send us a new log for see if it'll now work as expected.

How do I do this on UMS? Or is it automatic?

Attached is the UMS Window that I suppose I use to configure this - but can't seem how to achieve it - set FFMEG as first choice video engine ....

Sorry to be a pain.

OK, it's fine, FFMpeg is already your first engine choice, so you don't need to do anything.

About where to place the FFMpeg file, as a total noobs about MAC things, i used the wonderful UniversalMediaServer forum to find the answer:

Replace FFMpeg file in /Applications/Universal Media Server.app/Contents/Resources/osx/ffmpeg with the new one.

P.S. with the same name as the original one (ffmpeg.dmg), of course, meaning that you override the old one.

Once again, Sami32 - thanks for all your valued help with this.

Here is an updated log after attempting all you have suggested:
ums_dbg.zip
(20.81 KiB) Downloaded 390 times
Unfortunately nothing seems to be any different re playing AIFF files :-(

The Mac I am on uses 10.6.8 and following the advice:

Replace FFMpeg file in /Applications/Universal Media Server.app/Contents/Resources/osx/ffmpeg with the new one

doesn't work for me - I only seem to have the UMS logo button in the Applications Folder (which just opens up UMS) - I can't activate Contents/Resouces/etc. since they don't show.

Hmmmm.....

So you'll need an MAC user to help you as i'm not able to explain how to use a MAC...

When you'll found out how to replace/mount ? ffmpeg.dmg with the new one that i linked to you, at that time only you could send a new log.

Sorry,as a total MAC noobs, nothing more that i can do.
Maybe you should try searching on Internet ? or ask to MAC forum...
http://www.unixtutorial.org/2012/09/how ... in-mac-os/
http://www.howtogeek.com/177619/how-to- ... d-to-know/

P.S. The AIFF issue should be fixed in the next UMS version.
