Running time.

Post by Chalkiejim »

I am using a Samsung smart TV to play media from UMS. Up until version 6.5.2 everything worked fine. Since then version 6.5.2 and 6.5.3 have been showing incorrect running times on the TV screen. Rather than showing 1:35:00 for instance and counting down it just constantly shows 999:59:59 and stays the same. I have reinstalled version 6.5.1 now and all is back to normal. Please could this bug be fixed so I can use the latest version of UMS. I have uploaded my bug report for this issue. Many thanks.

Is it happening only with your MP4 video files ?

Do playing the files from inside the #--TRANSCODE--# folder give the same result ?

What a great question. So I've done some testing. All of the MP4 files were showing the wrong running times, so then I tried the AVI and MP3 files. The AVI and MP3 files were showing correct times. What I did find was, the MP4 files were running through the transcoder and the AVI and MP3 files weren't. So I went into the transcode folders and ran the MP4 files without it being transcoded and BINGO, the running time was showing correct. The transcoder being used was the FFmpeg. There must be some sort of conflict between the transcoder and the updated UMS software. Up until 6.5.1 this was all running just fine. It has effected the last 2 updates 6.5.2 and 6.5.3. Some sort of fix is needed.

I know what you mean now. I didn't know it was called that. Before I send this info to you something has changed. There was a Java update, (Java 8 update 121), the other day which I installed. I always have trouble with Java as I run a 64bit pc with 32bit IE. It never knows which version to install. Anyway I forced it to install the 32bit version as that is what it recommended as I run the 32bit IE. Would you now it, UMS works fine now. All my running times are showing correct on all formats. Weather UMS doesn't like the 64bit Java version or not, I don't know. Maybe Java had changed something in the previous updates that they had changed back, who knows. All I can tell you now is that my UMS is running how it should. If you want anymore info, let me know. Thanks again.

Thank you for letting us know.

But i suspect that the errors i saw in your log are still there...so i'm interested by one MediaInfo text log of a problemtic MP4 video file (i'm not an english native, so that could explain... ;) )

If you could produce a new trace log as before, that i can make sure that errors are still there, it'll be nice.

Thank you.

Here is the trace log that you requested. I have used the same MP4 file as before so you can get a good comparison. I don't know how to get the media info for you, sorry.

[SOLVED] Running time.

Post by Sami32 »

No more this error in your log, that's good for you ;)

In the first log you was using "Samsung C/D Series" renderer and in this one your forced the "LG LA6200" renderer, on a different TV it seem, that force stream everything, that's why you don't experiment this issue anymore.
It's good for you, but the UMS bug stay here...

Did you already installed MediaInfo ? https://mediaarea.net/fr/MediaInfo/Download

You right click on a (ex) problematic MP4 files and choose "MediaInfo". From there you can copy the informations and paste it here.

EDIT: Please, could you edit your first title's issue and add "[SOLVED]" in front of your title, as i did ?
Thank you.
