Problem with ums-6.7.0

Post by boss »

With the help of subjunk, I had managed to get UMS working quite well with my LG-BP550 Bluray players.
I have just tried version 6.7.0 and found that several of my movies will not play again.

I tried with the default LG-BP550.conf file as well as my modified LG-BP550.conf file which worked in UMS-6.5 series and UMS-6.6.0.

Attached is a zip file with the logs (with Trace turned on).

The sample movie I played is The Addams Family.
Zipped are 3 log files.
6.7.0 with default LG-BP550.conf (movie would not play)
6.7.0 with previously modified and previously working LG-BP550.conf (movie would not play)
6.6.0 with modified LG-BP550.conf (working)

Any suggestions appreciated.

Could you upload the modified renderer configuration file as well?

Oops, it seems there's a new bug in 6.7.0 affecting Linux users (and it's my fault :oops:).

Please set "prevent_sleep = never" in your UMS.conf (if "prevent_sleep" doesn't exist, just add it on a new line) and then start UMS and see if that helps.

Thanks for that info. I added it to UMS.conf and playing videos is now how it was in 6.6.0.
It worked in both 6.7.0 and 6.7.1.
Also in 6.7.1 "prevent_sleep = never" does not have to be set for it to work as it did in 6.6.0.

I have since noticed a couple of other issues in 6.7.0.and 6.7.1

UMS does now not see any image files on the server.
In the 6.7.0 and 6.7.1 LG-BP550.conf files I notice that the following has been removed:
# Supported image formats:
Supported = f:gif m:image/gif
Supported = f:jpg m:image/jpeg
Supported = f:png m:image/png

I did add that in to the 6.7.0 and 6.7.1 LG-BP550.conf files and the image files still failed to be seen.
I also copied my modified LG-BP550.conf file (images working in 6.6.0) to 6.7.0 and 6.7.1 and the image files still could not be seen.

I am also getting this warning in the log file with 6.7.0 and 6.7.1:
WARN 2017-06-11 11:31:33.714 [cling-6] Unable to parse protocolInfo from "http-get:*:audio/sonyoma:*http-get:*:audio/ogg:*", this profile will not be registered: Invalid protocolInfo string "http-get:*:audio/sonyoma:*http-get:*:audio/ogg:*"

This error appears when using the default 6.7.0 and 6.7.1 LG-BP550.conf file or my modified LG-BP550.conf file.

Any advice appreciated.

As the bug you encountered regarding the sleep prevention would make any Linux installation that had "prevent_sleep" set to anything but "never" crash as soon as any media was attempted played, we released 6.7.1 to address this bug specifically. Thus, the setting is no longer needed in 6.7.1 as you've already discovered.

When it comes to the ProtocolInfo errer regarding "http-get:*:audio/sonyoma:*http-get:*:audio/ogg:", it's harmless. It's a bug in your LG, they have forgotten a newline. According to the specification, the lines should be like this:

Code: Select all

http-get:*:audio/sonyoma:*
http-get:*:audio/ogg:*
We doesn't actually use that information for anything yet, so the fact that these two aren't registered has no consequence, and the detailed logging is there exactly to see what we can expect to get from renderers out there. Your renderer configuration file is unrelated to this.

The image format specification has been removed because it's not used in 6.7.x. It's supposed to resolve itself automatically. To see what goes wrong, I'd need a trace log while you browse and try to view images.

Thanks for your reply.

Attached is the zipped debug.log (trace on) using 6.7.1 and the default LG-BP550.conf file while accessing my image folder.

Thanks

I can't find anything directly wrong although I am a bit confused by some of what's going wrong in the log. Can you see the entries for the images but nothing happens when you try to open the image, or can't you see the images at all? If you see the entries, do they have thumbnails?

Whenever I go to a folder with images, none of the files or thumbnails are showing.
There is just the message "There is no playable photo content"

Thanks

Do you have any other renderer available, like an Android device with BubbleUPnP? I just want to estabilish where the problem is.

The only android device I have is an android phone.
Do you mean to keep UMS on my server and setup my android phone to view the content?

PS. Not sure if it is of any consequence. But if I bring up UMS in my computer browser (port 9001), the image files display.
